mistakes and moving through them
Dear Beholder,
Music of Choice: Don’t Let It Go To Your Head by Cleo Sol
The topic of mistakes has been coming up a lot.
Is there a such thing as a mistake? Do you believe in mistakes?
For years, I had been holding a grudge against myself for mistakes or decisions that I made in the past. You know sometimes you do something even though you know you shouldn’t, or maybe the decision seems to be a promising one at the time. Whatever it is, later down the line, it’s eventually decided that maybe that wasn’t the best idea.
This realization can be accompanied by shame, guilt, fear, or a plethora of other emotions. You could start to question yourself and all the decisions you have made thus far in your life. The “wrong choice” can cause a person so much anxiety and potentially stunt growth, of course, speaking from personal experience.
It was not until recently this idea finally became clear. Sometimes you must do the wrong thing to learn from and move forward with the right thing. If we all did the right thing the first time, there would be nothing to learn, and your perspective would not change, whether that be your actions or others.
Even though mistakes can create a feeling of hopelessness, there is a great opportunity for reflection and growth. What did you learn? About yourself? About others? How could you go about the conflict or issue differently?
Mistakes are a part of life, of course, no one likes to make them, but those mistakes make you at the end of all of it. Give yourself grace.
With gratitude,
Universal Karma
